12/28 The Lodge

GV II
Lodge to Corfe House (not included), now dwelling. Dated 1863 C 0aten, Builder. Chert
stone random rubble, brick dressings, decorated clay tiles, overhanging eaves,
sprockets, bargeboards at gable ends facing street only, decorative ridge tiles, brick
stacks set in from gable ends left and right. L-plan with entrance in angle. One and
a half storeys,1:1 bays, projecting gable end riqht, all 2-light casements with cast
iron glazing bars, gabled dormer rising from eaves left, window right, ground floor
window right, left 2-light bay window with hipped decorative clay tiled roof and
dentil cornice, entrance in re-entrant angle, C20 door under cantilevered hipped
porch carried on shaped brackets with dentil cornice.
Left gable end has plaque inscribed "HB and SC June 24 1863 C 0aten Builder".
