'Perseus' Statue
SJ 84 SE 2/5

Circa 1840 bronze replica of the celebrated statue by Benvenuto Cellini in the
Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence. Sited by the lake at the end of the central axis of
the parterre the statue stands on a stone pedestal with large 3-stepped base.
Inscription records that the replica was made to the order of the second Duke with permission of his friend the then Duke of Tuscany, was originally erected here on the reconstruction of Trentham Hall in 1840; later moved to Sutton Place, Surrey but restored and replaced here by Elizabeth, Countess of Sutherland in 1966.
