Farmhouse. Mainly C18 with later alterations and additions. Red brick
replacing earlier timber framing; plain tile roofs; brick central stack
and integral end stacks. Formerly L-shaped in plan,the principal range
aligned east-west facing north with early C19 northern extension and a
rear wing to the west aligned north-south with early C20 southern extension;
wings to the west, aligned east-west, with rear extension aligned north-
south, and to the east aligned north-south. Central range of one storey
and attic, flanked by a right hand wing of 2 storeys with dentilled eaves
band, and by a left hand wing of 2 storeys and attic with half-hipped
roof; 1:3:1 windows, casements with segmental heads, 2 eyebrow dormers
to central range, right hand ground floor window is a large tripartite
glazing bar sash; 6-panelled door to right of central range with
bracketed pediment hood. West elevation has an early C19 Tuscan portico.
Several glazing bar sashes to the south elevation. Interior: chamfered
and stopped ceiling beams; large open fireplace with timber bresummer;
C18 newel staircase; early C18 dog-leg staircase with column on vase
balusters and straight handrail. C18 roof trusses. Home Farmhouse
occupies a commanding position at the head of the village green and is
included for group value.
