SK 1615-1715 ALREWAS C.P. MILL END LANE (West side)

9/45 No. 18 (Mill End House)
GV II

House. C16. Timber framed with brick infill and some brick rebuilding;
thatched roof with scalloped ridge; brick ridge stack. L-shaped plan,
2-bay hall range aligned north-south facing west, formerly lobby-entry,
and 2-bay crosswing to the north aligned east-west. West elevation:
one storey and attic, 2 square panels to eaves with straight braces;
gabled crosswing to the left with plastered front and gabled half-glazed
porch, hall range to the right; 1:2 windows, C20 casements; hall range
has a blocked door to the right. East elevation: crosswing to right
with plastered front, hall range to left with 3 windows to ground floor
and an eyebrow dormer to the right, the roof of the crosswing has one
pair of purlins and a ridge piece. Interior: chamfered and stopped
ceiling beams; the central truss of the crosswing is a cruck truss, the
other cross frames are of post and truss construction and these two forms
of construction are probably contemporary; curved wind braces.
