7/91 Elford Bridge West

Road bridge. Probably C16 with later alterations. Red brick and ashlar.
Seven semi-circular arches spanning the River Tame, the central one large,
the arches are flanked by cutwaters carried up as buttresses, those flank-
ing the central arch incorporates refuges, parapet band to plain parapet.
Elford bridge (west) now straddles the remains of an ox-bow lake, the
former course of the river, it was replaced in the C18 by Elford Bridge
(east) (q.v. Elford C.P.) when the river changed its course.
