Large farmhouse. Largely C17 with early C19 alterations and refacing.
Red brick with stone dressings, quoins and bands at floor level.
The C19 front is in ashlar. Tiled roofs with brattished verge parapets
and finials; massive side stacks, triple shafted to final stage.
Plan of two parallel ranges. West front (facing road) of two storeys
and gable lit attics;; three flush gables, whose crenellated verge
parapets are part of the early C19 plan to Gothicise the building,
rebuilt with quatrefoil windows over four light (probably C19) chamfered
mullion windows to first and ground floor. Central gable is fronted
by a three storey (but only reaching up to eaves level) flat roofed
porch of square plan; three light chamfered mullion windows over a
heavy Tudor-arched lintel to an entrance (now blocked). East front:
of similar layout but all refronted in early C19 with raised strings
(stepped over windows) and with Tudor-arched tripartite sash windows
to first floor, similar French casements to ground all flanked by
pointed arch sashes and combined under the central gable with a Tudor-
arched segmental head French casement over a delicate colonnaded porch
with cornice, fleuron and triglyph frieze on clasped, clustered columns
over central entrance which has segmental arch, fanlight and double
part-glazed doors. Interior: full height entrance hall with delicate
Gothick plasterwork and cantilevered stone stair with cast iron balustrade.
