SHOBNALL ROAD (south side)
Nos 292-303 (consec)

GV
II
Row of twelve model workers' cottages. c1875. Red brick with blue brick dressings; Welsh slate roof. Long range of 24 large-paned sashes articulated as six pairs, each flanked by single windows, all with cambered heads and stone sills. Blue brick bands at cill level and at height of window heads. Fenestration on this front is virtually unaltered with only one C20 replacement. Low-pitched roof above brick dentilled eaves cornice has end stacks and five pairs of ridge stacks, mostly retaining their original chimney pots.

The cottages are entered from the rear with doors in the side of a projecting range to each pair. This elevation has been much altered. These workers' cottages were built by Messrs Mann, Crossman & Paulin proprietors of what is now Marston's Brewery (qv).
