BETLEY MAIN STREET (west side)
Cottage. C16 and late C18. Timber-framed and red brick partially rendered and
painted. Plain tile roofs, with a single gable and 2 ridge stack. L-plan. 3
bay with projecting rear timber framed wing. Street front has off centre doorway
with panel door wooden surround and small gabled hood. Eitherside are single 2
light glazing bar casements to the right another similar window, all these windows
have segmental heads. Above 3 gabled dormer windows also with similar windows.
The north gable is timber framed. The rear wing is the final bay of the original
3 bay cottage with gable-end onto the street. The ground floor wall is rendered
with a small 2 light casement and a plank door. INTERIOR. Most of the original
frame survived with large chamfered beams and exposed stud positions, plus
contemporary plank door and an inglehook fireplace.
