Parish church. 1841-2. By T. Stanley for the Church Commissioners.
Dressed free-stone with ashlar quoins and dressings; slate roof. West
tower, 4-bay nave, single-bay chancel and south-east vestry. Gothic
style. West tower. 3 stages, with diagonal buttresses and crenellated
parapet. Pointed west door; pointed west window over with Y-tracery;
paired lancets at belfry level. Nave. Single-light lancets windows
including 2 in the west wall, one each side of the tower; slim buttresses
at the bay divisions and clasping buttresses at the corners; chamfered
plinth and eaves band. Chancel. Window of 3 lancets. The vestry has
a pointed south door. Interior. Pointed chancel arch. Simple altar
rail with wrought iron supports. The Church of St. Thomas is part of
an interesting group of buildings which includes The School (q.v.) and
The Vicarage (q.v.). B.o.E. p. 207.
