SJ 85 NE east side) Mow Cop

2/61 Former School immediately east
- of Church of St. Thomas


School now disused. 1843. Dressed freestone with ashlar quoins and
dressings; slate roof. Gothic style. 2 parallel ranges aligned east-
west facing north. One storey. 3 window front with lancet lights in
a rhythm of 3:1:3, and sunken spandrels. Central gabled porch with pointed
door to the left hand return and a blocked pointed doorway to the right
hand return with inserted window. 2 lancet windows to each gable end.
The school is one of an interesting group of buildings that includes The
Church (q.v.) and Vicarage (q.v.). B.o.E. p. 207.
