5/24 Church School
Church school. 1852-3 by Henry Clutton. Random coursed, chisel-dressed
Hollington yellow sandstone; tiled roof; verge parapets; end stack to
north. Simple plan of schoolroom and clasping ancillary lean-to range
to north and east. Entrance elevation faces church to east. Single-
storey, part with attic to north and lit by a hipped half-dormer of 2
trefoil-headed lights over a 5-bay front of 2-light stone mullioned casement
windows, buttressed to south. 2 bays to east obscured by hipped lean-to
with central blind 5-light mullioned window and door to right. The main
entrance is situated in the south return of the lean-to. The south gable
has a tall 5-light stone mullioned and transomed window. The school is
set on the edge of the churchyard and occupies an elevated position near
the church; it is particularly prominent when approached from Old Hall
