Roving bridge. Early C19. Red brick; blue brick under stone half-
round coping and dressings; concave sides; segmental arch over canal;
parapet swept over span to assist roving of tow rope from one towpath
to the opposite side. The Trent and Mersey Canal was opened in 1777.
