Perimeter wall to east, north and south of The Almshouses, Nos. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12

GV II

Perimeter wall. Early C18, heavily restored early C20. Red brick with glazed terracotta, pitched capping. Wall encloses garden to east of almshouses up to river frontage. Approximately 1.5m high, ramped to centre of east side up to 2 piers surmounted by ball finials (restored to north). Opening to river was previously blocked up, but reopened in 2000. Wall completes the formal setting and provides an attractive border to the river. Included for group value.
