Country house. Early C18 core extensively remodelled in the early and
mid-C19. Rendered brickwork, stone dressings; hipped slate roof of low
pitch almost invisible behind parapet; central stacks. L-shaped plan.
Entrance front: in 2 parts mainly to left, of 3 storeys, 2:3:2 glazing
bar sashes reduced to 9 panes to top storey; slightly projecting outer
bays flanked by even quoins in low relief; central entrance within mid-
C19 low single-storey flat-roofed Tetrastyle Tuscan portico, now with
glazing between columns and glazed doors. Early C19 wing attached to
right of similar height but 2 storeys and 3 bays; to a wider-spaced
rhythm than the main house, further set-back wing beyond. Garden front:
also 2:3:2 with slight central recess only and pedimented orangery
attached to west side.
