Farmhouse, wall and gate piers. Dated 1694, with later alterations
and additions. Red brick with vitrified headers, ashlar plinth, quoins
and dressings; plain tile roof with coped verges on shaped kneelers;
central brick stack of cruciform section. Lobby-entry plan, 2-cell
range aligned east-west with stair turret projecting from centre of
south face, south projecting wing added to west end and extension to
north-east corner of main house. Main house to left of 2 storeys
and attic with moulded first-floor band and moulded eaves cornice, 2-
storey gabled wing to right; 3:1 bays, casements with brick flat
arches and shaped keystones, central door to main house with ovolo-
moulded stone surround and massive lintel dated T
East gable: Ground and first floor windows R E
have original segmental heads, bands above 16
first floor and attic windows. Interior: 94
Exposed ceiling beams with hollow chamfer moulding; massive fireplace
with cambered arch and moulded surround; late C17 dog-leg staircase
with barley sugar twist balusters and newels with ball finials.
Coped brick wall and central square section gate piers with moulded
stone caps enclose a front garden. A good example of an early brick
farmhouse.
