Cottage. c1855. By George Gilbert Scott. Coursed and squared
limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings; shaped and hung
clay tiles to attic storey; shaped clay tile roof with plain tile
bands; ashlar ridge stack to left of centre and ashlar integral end
stack. Vernacular revival Swiss chalet style; 2-room plan. 1
storey and attic; 1:1:1 windows, central l½ storey gabled porch with
shaped and painted barge boards; ground floor has 2-light chamfered
mullioned windows with chamfered surrounds containing casements; the
3 gabled dormer windows are single light casements; the central one has
a bracketed sill, the outer ones shaped and painted barge boards;
central convex shoulder-headed doorway. An essential element of the
picturesque estate village rebuilt by Scott in the.1850's.
