8/101 Home Farmhouse


Farmhouse. c1855. Probably by George.Gilbert Scott. Coursed limestone
rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings; clay tile roof with shaped
tile bands and crested ridge tiles; integral end stacks. Main
house and kitchen wing aligned N.E. - S.W., rear-wing to N.W. and extension
to S.W. 2 storey main house to right, projecting gable of lower storey
extension to left; single storey kitchen wing to centre. Main house
and kitchen wing: 1:2 windows; glazing bar casements; main house has
bracketed overhanging eaves and shaped barge boards connected by timber
framework above collar level. Part of the picturesque Alpine style estate
village created by Scott.
