Lodge. Dated 1840. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings;
fishscale tile roof with painted shaped barge boards; integral end stack.
Tudor Gothic style; single cell front range with 2 rear ranges. 1
storey and gable lit attic; 2 windows; cross windows with chamfered
mullions and transoms; rebated surround and returned hood moulds; central
doorway with cambered lintel and sunken spandrels. Ground floor canted
bay window to south gable with transomed lights; 2 light mullioned attic
window above with returned hood mould. Inscription above door; "The
first stone of River Lodge was laid / on the 6th of May 1840 / BY JEMMA
COUNTESS OF MONTGELAS¨.
