Lime kiln. Early C19. Rock-faced ashlar. Retaining wall approximately
10m high by 50m long; 4 bays each massively buttressed by inclined
sections running to full height, 4 stoke-holes, round-arched
and set between buttresses, each approximately 2m high. The kilns
are set on the side of the Caldon Canal using lime supplied from
Caldon Low via the canal, as did Froghall Forge (q.v.).
