Milepost. Dated 1879. Cast iron. Approximately 800mm high, set on
circular shaft with convex rectangular display to top, divided down
centre and inscribed on left: "LEEK/4/MILES", and to right:
"NEWCASTLE/7 1/2 MILES/BURSLEM/5 1/2 MILES"; the head is finished with a
fluted dome and the base bears the inscription: "HALES/COBRIDGE/
1879".
