Description

IPSTONES C.P. COMBES VALLEY
SK 05 SW
6/225
- Clough Meadow
Cottage

- II

Shown on OS map as Cloughmeadow Cottage.
House. C17, extensively repaired late C19. Coursed dressed and squared
stone; tiled roof; verge parapets with rounded copings; ridge stack to right
of centre. 2-storey, 2+1-window front. C19 chamfered mullioned windows
in chamfered reveals, single-light to left and 2-light to centre; additional
window on ground floor widely spaced to right; entrance to rear. Although
the house bears all the characteristic stonework details of a C17 unit,
the execution is so crisp that a substantial repair must have been made.
Set in a very attractive setting on a knoll above the valley floor.
