Parish church. 1868 and 1873 by Richard Norman Shaw. Rough-faced coursed
rubble; tiled roof with verge parapets to nave and south porch, central
tower and chancel. C14 inspired style. Nave: of 1873; 3 bays on plinth
with 2-stage buttresses only to sides of west gable; 3-light pointed
windows labelled, with trefoil heads to sides and roundels in larger
west window; low-sided porch to south-west end with pointed arch entry,
moulded imposts and wrought iron strap hinges and bands over boarded
doors. Tower: of approximately 3 stages, cambered-in below the top
stage and with strings between half-stages, attached to, but narrower
than east end of nave; buttresses to north and south sides of 3 stages,
all dying-in at the bell chamber level; heavily rebated 2-light labelled
pointed window to lower stage; paired pointed bell chamber windows to
north and south sides and paired quatrefoils to east and west; pyramidal
roof over, the salient feature of this church. Chancel: of one bay;
2-light pointed windows and 3-light to east end. [Andrew Saint: Richard
