House. Mid C18, with C19 and C20 alterations. 2 storeys and
attics; 5 windows. Red brick with eaves cornice of moulded
brick. Slated roof with flat-roofed dormers, having small-pane
sashes; gable chimneys of red brick. Windows with flat arches of
gauged brick and small-pane sashes. Fine entrance doorway:
entablature with dentilled pediment on attached Corinthian
columns. 6-panelled entrance door with upper panels glazed,
moulded architrave and oblong fanlight with tracery of enmeshed
circles. A contemporary wing to rear left, with C20 alterations;
a further block added C19 to rear. An original staircase with
balustrading in the Chinese Chippendale manner. The house has
only been known as Moulton Hall since the C20; the former Moulton
Hall stood 100 metres to the south-east.
