Bank with offices above. Formerly known as Buckingham House; mid
C18. with C20 alterations. 5 windows, 2 storeys and attics.
Red/brown brick with quoins and parapet of red brick, gauged
brick string course, moulded timber fascia-gutter with dentils.
Plaintiled roof with hipped plaintiled dormers having small pane
sashes; gable chimneys of red brick. Sash windows with flat
arches of gauged red brick, sashes replaced without glazing bars
C20. Pair of 3-panelled entrance doors with architrave and
oblong fanlight having radial glazing bars; the doors recessed
between panelled reveals, with entablature on Doric columns.
Limestone steps. To left an annexe (No.60), 2 windows, storey
and attics; perhaps formerly stabling, much altered C20. Red
brick with parapet and string course. Slated C20 mansard roof
with recessed dormers. Sash windows with gauged brick flat
arches, the sashes replaced C20. The entrance doorway identical
to that of No.58 perhaps a C20 copy. Some good joinery of the
mid/late C18 on the 1st floor; fine staircase up to 2nd floor
with moulded handrail and turned balusters, newels with drop
finials; the landing and a number of rooms have sunk-panel led
dados and window shutters, 3-panel doors and other good joinery.
