Description

TL 6463 NEWMARKET PARK LANE
(including EXNING)

7/147 Nos 4 and 6

II

House (No.4) and Shop (No.6). Early C19 with C18 core. 2
storeys, 5 windows. Rendered walls. Pantiled roof with axial
and gable chimneys of gault and red brick; flat lead-roofed
dormers with sliding casements. C19 small-pane horizontal
sliding casements with, at 1st floor, segmental arched heads; at
ground floor, hinged boarded shutters fold back into a recess
which continues up to form an elliptical arch above the window -
these are probably shop windows. The windows of No.6 replaced
mid-C20, but retaining the recesses. No.4 has a C19 entrance
door with 2 vertical panels and oblong fanlight; a pair of
inward-canted reeded pilasters, all within a shallow semi-
circular headed recess.
