4/149 Tattershall's
10.3.70 Arch.
(Formerly listed

II

Triumphal arch, 1864, by Charles Freeman. In the Roman manner,
about 7 metres high. Portland limestone, slated roof.
Entablature with pediment, on Doric columns, framing a semi-
circular arched opening; the south-west and north-east faces are
identical; but the latter has a coat of arms in relief within the
pediment. On each return wall, the limestone blocks are
rusticated, with flat-arched openings. The structure originally
stood at Tattershalls Knightsbridge, London showrooms as part of
a larger composition, and was removed to its present site,
c.1960.
