TL 77 SW BARTON MILLS NEWMARKET ROAD

House, early C19 in 2 stages. East (garden) elevation:- 2 storeys, 3 windows.
Stuccoed walls, a string at 1st floor. Hipped slated roof with central
chimneys of gault brick. Small-pane sash windows with moulded architraves;
those at ground floor continue down to ground floor. Prominent 2-storey flat-
roofed porch with moulded eaves cornice. Entrance doorway with semi-circular
head, containing fanlight with ornamental lead glazing bars; pair of French
doors. On the north front, 5 windows wide, the 1st floor windows have
shouldered architraves and the ground floor windows have cornices on console
brackets. The house was extended westwards before 1827 (shown as having
present form on estate map). Of this date is the south entrance doorway with 6
panelled entrance door and Greek Tuscan portico porch.
