Hotel. Early C19 with central core of late C16. Main range of 4 windows, 2
storeys and attics. Timber-framed, encased in C18 painted brick with string
at 1st floor. Concrete tiled roof with casement dormers and axial chimney of
red brick. C19 small-pane sash windows with wooden lintels. Two C19 splayed
bays with flat roofs and small-pane sashes. Panelled half-glazed entrance
door. A C19 single-cell extension of rubble walling to left. Two early C19
ranges to right. Range A: one window wide, rubble with brick quoins and
dentil eaves, concrete tiled gambrel roof, small-pane sash windows and 6-
panelled entrance door with oblong fanlight. Range B: two windows wide,
painted brick, concrete tiled roof, small-pane sash windows, entrance door
with 8 flush panels, reeded pilasters and flat canopy. The C16 core is
probably of 3 cells, with ovolo-moulded floor beams and a large central
chimney.
