House and surgery. c.1700 with C15 core and alterations of C19 and C20. 2
storeys, 3 windows. Flint and brick rubble with quoins of gault brick.
Hipped plaintiled roof with rear chimney of red brick. Windows with segmental
arches of gault brick, and small-pane sashes mainly of 3 lights. Partly
glazed panelled C19 entrance'door with architrave and gabled canopy on carved
brackets. To the rear of the front range is a small part of a substantial C15
house of clunch with limestone dressings, with on each floor an open fireplace
flanked by a garderobe to right, and a newel staircase to left. About 8
doorways survive, some still having 4-centred arched heads, also a stone
mullioned window. The front range may have a C15 core, but all visible
features, including a good oak-framed roof with butt-purlins and massive
principals, are of late C17. The rear wing was almost rebuilt C18, and again
mid C20.
