A C15-C16 timber-framed and plastered building but with considerable
later alteration. There is a cross wing at the south-east end with an
extension to the south-west. The north-east front and the cross wing
have been refaced in modern brick. Two storeys and attics. The north-west
gable end is a good example of exposed timber-framing with jettied upper
storey and gable on fine carved bressumers. The lower bressumer is carved
with the initials R.M. and the date 1587. The windows are modern casements
set in original framed openings with blocked high level windows on either
side. There is an original blocked window in the gable. The main block
has a ridge chimney stack with diagonal shafts. The interior has heavy
exposed timber-framing, ceiling beams and joists, Tudor brick fireplaces
and an original spiral staircase.
