Public house. Probably early C16 with later alterations. Timber-framed rough
rendered. Plain tile roof. Red brick stacks. 2 storeys, U-plan with cross wings
to rear. Possible former through passage blocked by later inserted stack to front
range, indicated by door to rear wall opposite front entrance. Board door in
plain doorcse with hood. Canted bay with 16-pane sash flanked by 12-pane sashes
under slate roof. 3-light C20 casement to left and further board door to extreme
left. 3-light window to right of entrance: C20 casements above. Steep hipped
roof. Ridge stack to right. Extension to right under pent roof. Rear wings,
that to right gabled, the other hipped. Interior: rebuilt inglenook under timber
bressumer. Right(hipped)cross wing 4 bays, chamfered beams and joists run-out
stops. 1st floor chamfered jowled post, tie beam with replaced crown post with
knees to purlin, studded walls. Wall plate with shutter groove. C17-C18 panelled
door with HL hinges. Other wing jowled posts, chamfered tie with mortices for
arch braces. Rear part closed off.
