Look-out tower. c1550 possibly for Latymer family of Ipswich. Orange brick with
blue brick diapering. Six storeys, 10 by 12 feet with polygonal staircase turret
to river front. Later door to rear which was formerly set in a gabled porch (NMR).

Polygonal angle buttresses surmounted by pinnacles. String courses to 1st, 3rd and
6th floors. Open-arcaded parapet. Double-chamfered 3-light mullion windows formerly
rendered to represent stone with moulded brick pediments to upper floors. Mullion
and transom windows to 6th floor. Double-chamfered light to each face of stair turret
which is surmounted by a panelled parapet. Interior (not fully inspected): timber
newel spiral stair. Photgraphs in NMR. Probable Ipswich merchant's look-out tower.
Commanding a fine view of the River Orwell.
