TM 04 SE CHATTISHAM MILL LANE
3/14 Chattisham Hall
House. Circa 1830, with possibly earlier service wing to rear. Colourwashed brick,
the main block with brick plinth and first floor band, hipped slate roof. Brick
stacks of white and red brick. L-plan. 2 storeys and cellar. Facade in 3 bays
with tripartite sashes with rendered cills and flat arched heads. Central door
of one leaf but with muntin to give appearance of a pair, and of 6 panels, the upper
two flush. Doric porch of 2 columns and two pilasters beneath flat canopy. Plain
oversailing eaves. Left hand return. 2 French windows. Rear, stair window a tall
tripartite sash with semi-circular head. Rear range, lower, of 2 storeys, 3 sashes
with glazing bars. Interior: Ground floor doors of 6 panels, on first floor of
4 panels. Open string dog-leg stair with turned balusters, curved brackets to the
string ends, ramped and wreathed mahogany rail. Country Life 12 October 1978, 1116.
