House, divided in two. Probably early to mid C16, and later. Timber framed, the
first floor rendered, the rest clad in Flemish bond brick, with shallow brick
plinth. Plaintile roof. Rendered transverse-axial stack. Left hand external
brick stack. 1½ storeys. 3 cell cross passage plan, its left hand parlour cell
a later addition. 2 3-light casements, that to left of 6 panes, that to central
cell of 3 plain lights. Boarded door with glazed panel in cross passage
position, small 2-light casement to right, service cell; single light to far
left. 3-light 6-pane full dormer casement above central window. Interior; part
exposed frame. Chimney to left of passage. Intact pair of service rooms with
rectangular service doorways with chamfered reveals. Probably original doors,
that to rear of 3 butted planks that to front of 3 lapped boards. Large pintle
hinges. Inserted hall ceiling with crude ogee stops to axial beam, thin joists.
Right hand tie beam part cut through. Stairs to rear of hall. 2-tier staggered
purlin roof. No 38 (left) appears later, with thinner scantling where visible.
