Farmhouse. Built in two stages, C16 and early C17. Major mid C19
alterations. 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan. 2 storeys. Timber-framed,
the front elevation encased in mid C19 red brick (other walls pebble-dashed).
Slated C19 roof with carved bargeboards; C17 axial chimney, plastered and
recapped in red brick (a C19 external red brick chimney to left). C19 small-
pane sashes, and a pair of French windows to the parlour. C19 4-panelled
entrance door at the cross-passage position. Timber-framing well exposed
internally; the C16 hall and service cells with arch wind-braced studding, and
the C17 parlour block with slenderer but closely-spaced studding. Other C17
work includes: main beams ovolo-moulded with leaf stops, a chimney between
hall and parlour with an original arched and ovolo-moulded chamber fireplace,
several good plank doors, and inserted attics throughout. A C18 parlour
corner cupboard with fretted shelves. A rear wing comprising dairy and
backhouse with cheeseroom and granary above was added in C19.
