Description

CREETING ST. PETER WILLOW GREEN
TM 05 NE
4/80 Garden wall enclosing
- garden to south side of
9-12-55 Roydon Hall
GV II

Garden wall; 1576, as carved on limestone datestone opposite entrance door of
Roydon Hall. Red brick in English bond, with weathered offset and brick-on-
edge coping at head. A square pier opposite the south corner of Roydon Hall
has a pyramid capping of brick with a sawtooth offset. The wall is 2.5m high,
returning for about 55m towards the north-east at a height of lm. Opposite
the main elevation of the house, it reduces to a height of lm also, being
broken for an entrance gateway. A further return section to east of house,
although of some interest, is not included because of its fragmentary
condition. The parish boundary with Earl Stonham passes through the wall.
