House, mid C16 with C17 alterations. 2-cell lobby-entrance plan. 2 storeys.
Timber-framed and plastered. Thatched roof with external and axial chimneys
of red brick. C19 small-pane casements and boarded entrance doors. A small
house with unusually substantial framing, complete and fully exposed. The 2-
bay hall to right has a wide blocked lintelled fireplace. Arch-braced
studwork and blocked square-mullioned windows. C17 alterations include an
external chimney to the service room, a newel staircase in the hall, and a new
clasped-purlin roof (the previous roof had been half-hipped at both ends). An
early example of a 2-cell lobby-entrance house, in which the second cell
comprised a small unheated service room.
