7/12 The Old Bakery

House, latterly with bakery and shop. C16 origins, largely rebuilt and
extended early C18, extended C19, altered C20. Timber frame, plastered with
some brick casing. Pantiled roofs, steeply pitched on earlier builds. 2 bay
core, kitchen bay added at right angles to form a small L, all 1 storey and
attic. 1 storey C19 bakery outbuildings added to left. A 3-light glazing bar
casement in original left bay, between 2 early bays a cross axial red brick
ridge stack, rebuilt cap. Projecting kitchen bay to right has slightly higher
eaves, inner return 3-light glazing bar casement, gabled dormer, internal
axial end stack, brick outshut to front raised in C20. Bakery to left has a
door, 3-light window, shallow pitch to roof, brick end wall. Original right
gable end pentice board, exposed plates and purlins. To rear an entrance to
left, a gabled dormer, brick to C19 range with a truncated stack. Interior:
original right end retains jowled posts, studding and rafters of large
scantling, elsewhere frame of small scantling with a forked axial binding
beam. A repositioned mullioned window with a hollow moulded and chamfered
king mullion, flanking small diamond mullions.
