House, latterly 2 dwellings. Late C15 or early C16, stack and parlour added
late C16, floor inserted C17, altered and extended C19. Timber frame,
plastered. Thatched roof. Brick and pantiled addition. Originally a small 2
bay open hall, no traces of storeyed bays. Parlour and stack addition to left
with a subsequent lobby entrance. Altered in C17 with screens passage,
service rooms and hall all in 2 early bays. All 1 storey and attic. Lobby
entrance replaced by a small glazing bar casement, flanking 3-light glazing
bar casements, that to left part opening, hoodboards, a 3-light gabled dormer
over former hall. Rebuilt ridge stack to left of centre. Left end 2 and 3-
light casements, exposed plates and purlins, pentice boards. Right end 2
lights in attic, exposed plates, pentice boards. To rear right a tiled gabled
porch with a boarded door in C17 screens passage position. To rear left a
short C19 brick addition. Interior: hall has some original studding exposed,
inserted ogee stop chamfered axial binding beam, jowled posts to a reused
cambered tie beam with lap joints on open truss, probable crown post is
concealed, one wall plate has a lower hollow moulding with Tudor Rose carving,
part repaired. Parlour has close studding, base cruck blades to a raised tie
beam in open truss, side purlin roof.
