Farmhouse. Mid C17, altered and extended early C19 and C20. Timber frame,
plastered. Steeply pitched plaintiled roof with pantiles to rear. Broad 3
cell cross passage plan. 2 storeys and attic. Ground floor: disused cross
passage entrance to left of centre with an early C19 recessed half glazed,
half fielded 4 panelled door, doorcase with fluted pilasters, cornice. To
right into parlour a largely glazed door, raised panels at base, similar
doorcase; to right a recessed tripartite glazing bar casement, a large C20 bay
window to centre, to left a C20 2-light glazing bar casement. First floor 3
tripartite glazing bar sashes, boxed eaves. Axial ridge stack between hall
and parlour to right of centre with 4 conjoined hexagonal shafts. Left end
added external kitchen stack with offsets, small flanking lean-to's with 3-
light metal frame casements. To rear of hall and service bays an early C19
extension with roof pitch altered, on return a C20 porch with a 2-light leaded
casement above. Behind cross passage a 6:9 pane staircase sash in a moulded
frame, a glazing bar sash to left and to right a small canted bay window,
sashed with a slate hood, behind an axial stack. Catslide roof over lean-to
addition behind parlour. Interior: frame largely concealed, cross axial
binding beams, early C19 staircase with slat balusters, columnar newel, ramped
wreathed handrail, double butt purlin roof with collars to principals.
Introduced C17 Flemish carved wood fireplace surround.
