House, latterly 2 dwellings. Late C16 with earlier origins, part rebuilt
early C17, altered C19 and C20. Timber frame, plastered. Thatched roofs. 2
bay stack and parlour addition to right, earlier hall to left virtually
entirely rebuilt as 2 storeyed bays. 2 storeys to right, 1 storey and attic
to left. Left bays have a central boarded door, to right a part opening metal
frame 3-light casement, to left a C20 casement, an eyebrow thatched dormer,
part opening metal frame 3-light casement, part leaded. To right a boarded
door into parlour with a 2-light glazing bar casement, single hoodboard. On
first floor in stack bay to left a small 3-light ovolo mullioned window with
intermediate small diamond mullions. Axial ridge stack is cement rendered,
rebuilt at cap. Left end attic 3-light glazing bar casement, exposed plates
and purlins. Right end pantiled lean-to outshut, first floor 4-light diamond
mullioned window, exposed plates and purlins. To rear a door to right
replacing a window, 2 glazed lean-to outshuts, one pantiled. Interior:
parlour has stop chamfered cross axial binding beam, close studding with
chamfered mid-rail, stop chamfered fireplace bressumer, parlour chamber arched
brace to tie beam, reverse curved arched bracing in walls. Hall and service
bays have stop chamfered jowled storey posts to a pegged bar and ogee stop
chamfered cross axial binding beam, studding is more widely spaced, 4-light
diamond mullioned window openings on both storeys, arched brace in front wall,
edge halved scarf joints in wall plates, evidence of removed tie beam possibly
for original open truss. Roofs not inspected.
