House. Late C16 and early to mid C17, altered C20. Timber frame, plastered.
Steeply pitched plaintiled roofs. 2 cell lobby entry main range with earlier
4 bay service range extending forward to right to form an L on plan. 2
storeys and attics. Entrance between hall and parlour in main range in a C20
gabled porch, above a small ovolo mullioned 3-light window, elsewhere C20
casements. 2 and 4-light ovolo mullioned windows to rear. Ridge stack
between hall and parlour has a recessed panel and a string course at foot of
shaft. Left or parlour gable end applied sham timber framing, oversailing
attic with exposed tie beam, plates and purlins. Slightly lower service wing
to right has a cross axial ridge stack to front of centre, mixed casements, an
entrance in outer elevation and a gable end to rear with a C20 lean-to
outshut. Bay to far right is a C19 addition. Interior: altered close
studding, broach stopped axial binding beam in hall, main range butt purlin
roof with straight and arched windbraces, 4-light diamond mullioned window
openings in service range blocked by later build, arched braces to cambered
tie beams, clasped purlin roof with arched windbraces.
