Description

GOSBECK MANOR LANE
TM 15 NE
4/68 No 2

- II

Cottage, C17. 1 storey and attics. 2-cell end-chimney plan. Timber-framed
and plastered; the left hand gable is encased in painted brick. Pantiled
roof, once thatched. An C18 or early C19 external chimney of painted red
brick. An early C19 3-light small-pane casement, and matching half-glazed
panelled entrance door. A further cell may have been removed from the left-
hand end; the existing ground storey room has evidence for a pair of missing
widely-spaced posts possibly associated with a smoke-bay. In the main room
the joists are large, unchamfered and possibly reused; in the former smoke
bay, joists are on-edge and probably a late insertion. Clasped-purlin roof.
A small C19 rear single-storey extension.
