GV II

Gates and gatepiers. The gatepiers of c.1900 in the style of early C18.
Gates of C18 or early C19 brought from the Tollemache seat of Ham House in
Richmond Park, c.1900. Heavy square gatepiers about 5m high; moulded
limestone bases and cornice, piers of very finely gauged red brick work. Each
pier is surmounted by the Tollemache emblem of a black winged horse's head.
Wrought iron gates with side panels and scrolled crown. On either side of the
piers are spearhead railings in sections, between octagonal red brick piers
with limestone finials.
