TM 05 SW

5/16 Wrights Cottage
-
- II

Cottage, C17. 3-cell lobby-entrance plan. 1 storey and attics. Timber-
framed and plastered. Thatched roof encased in corrugated iron; an axial C17
chimney of narrow red brick. Various C20 windows. Gabled C20 entrance porch
at lobby-entrance. Tension stud-braced studwork. Wind-braced clasped purlin
roof. Unchamfered fully exposed floor joists on edge except in service cell.
Lintelled open fireplace in hall. Service room partition removed and part of
front wall rebuilt, but building otherwise largely unaltered; of interest as
an unusually modest and quite complete example of a C17 cottage. Unoccupied
and in poor condition at date of survey.
