road, 50m south of Model
Farm

GV II

Pair of gatepiers and gates, c.1867 for Lankester Webb. Formerly giving
access to a roadway to the Tannery (see Item 2/97) from the Model Farm. About
2.3m high and 0.5m square piers with slight chamfer, on a splayed plinth of
gault brick. Heavy weathered capping of reconstituted stone with simple
moulded brick cornice below. The gates are of painted timber, framed in
oblong panels each with a stop chamfer on each arris. The outer stile of each
gate is continued up as a swan-neck supporting the top rail with a diagonal
iron bar. The lower row of panels is boarded and the upper row saltire-braced.
