of the Tannery House

GV II

Bark store, early C19. A building serving the tannery works, built probably
c.1830-1860 for Lankester Webb. Flint lower walling, plastered and tarred
claylump above. Slated roof; a bell turret at the right hand gable is
surmounted by a weather vane. Also at the right hand gable is a set of large
boarded doors; and above are two further doors high in the gable. A fine roof
spans about 20m: twelve bays of trusses with kingposts and queenposts, splayed
at the base and strutted to support purlins.
