GV II

Public house, late C16 or early C17, with C19 alterations. 3-cell plan. 2
storeys. Timber-framed and plastered. Plaintiled roof (once thatched), with
two C19 axial chimneys of red brick. Mid C19 windows: small-pane sashes at
ground storey, and small-pane casements at 1st storey. Single-storey late C19
entrance porch of red brick with gault brick bands, plaintiled roof, 4-
panelled door. Two other C19 panelled doors. A little unmoulded framing
exposed in the bars; evidence for close studding, and it is believed there are
concealed diamond-mullioned windows. The building was extended to right by
one bay in C18/C19.
