Description

MENDHAM FOXES LANE
TM 28 SE
2/62 Botwright's Farmhouse
-
-- II

Farmhouse. C16. Timber framed, mainly plastered, with a pantiled roof. 2
storeys and attic. 3-cell form. 4 windows, C20 2-light and 3-light
casements. C20 boarded entrance door. Internal stack and gable stack to
left. Interior somewhat altered with little of the timber frame visible.
Chamfered joists in hall; in the front wall a blocked original doorway with
arched head. Evidence for diamond-mullioned windows on both floors, with an
intact 3-light window (blocked) over the service end. The roof contains some
smoke-blackened rafters but seems to be a post-medieval reconstruction.
