9/103 White House ( formerly
- listed as Squire's Shop)

House and former shop. Probably C17 with later shop range to right. Timber
framed and plastered with a plaintiled roof. 2 storeys with an attic to the
main section. 2-cell form. 2 windows to each range, 3-light mullion and
transom casements with large panes. The house has a lobby entrance with 6-
panelled raised and fielded door, rectangular fanlight with glazing bars,
pilasters, frieze and cornice. Internal stack. To the right is a fine early
C19 shop front with 2 slightly bowed windows each with 50 small panes; central
doorway with 6-panelled door and rectangular panel above, over which is the
name "SQUIRE' in applied letters. The doorway and windows are framed by
pilasters, with a frieze and cornice above.
